Introducing Human Design for Sleep Healing

Human Design gives us an energetic blueprint of a person, completely unique to that person. It focusses on individual needs and influences, to help us more greatly understand what we need to be well and healthy, how we need to opperate, our potential for healing and deconditioning, and our potential as just a human being on this planet. It’s like being shown the seed of potential, and your job is to take the seed, plant it in the right soil, under the right conditions, with the right care, and watch it grow.

The difficulty often is knowing where to start. How do you take that seed and even create a routine that suits that seed when you don’t know what seed you even have in your hand, you know?

This is where Human Design steps in. It takes away the guessing and gives you a simple blueprint to begin to follow and implement. And this is for not just your waking life, but your sleeping life too…

The Science in Short

Even though for as long as we’ve been alive we’ve been dreaming and sleeping, science is only just catching up on the importance of not just sleep, but good quality dream sleep. Seems bonkers, right?

Well the reason is because until relatively recently, infact until the invention of the MRI scanner in the 1980’s, Scientists couldn’t actually prove very much about our sleep or dream states. They could see parts of the brain were active from the little things they stuck on peoples heads to measure electrical activity, but they couldn’t see which parts of the brain were active. They couldn’t match those areas up to what people were reporting, and they couldn’t even properly map out the brain in sleep state, not knowing the full picture.

The MRI scanner helped with all of that, and now, in the last 30 odd years, Science is catching up.

Some of the latest research is showing the importance of the four stages of sleep and the difference between NREM and REM sleep. In short, we all need to be getting good quality REM (rapid eye movement sleep) every single night for our nervous system to function properly. If not? Our hormones starts to go a bit wild, our emotional states become heightened, we can’t read social cues properly, and our sleep and wake states start to become unaligned. We begin to step further away from our natural selves… all because of bad quality sleep.

There’s obviously a lot more to it than that. I could bang on about noradrenaline, adrenaline and cortisol, the fight and flight hormones preventing REM sleep for many people who don’t even know they’re stressed but know they’re tired.

I could bang on about serotonin and dopamine and the circadian rhythm, our body clock, and how we need to keep a good sleep cycle for our inflammation markers and self healing potential.

But I won’t… I go into that more in DreamCatchers School.

All you need to know at this point is if you’re not getting a good night’s sleep, you’re missing out. For the sake of your physical health, emotional, mental and spiritual health… get your sleep sorted!
